KDF filter media
Quick Details
Reduces chlorine, heavy metals, and scale in water, minimizing maintenance efforts.
Enhances the effectiveness of carbon filters and extends their lifespan.
When used in water, a chemical reaction called redox (reduction-oxidation) occurs. During this reaction, electrons are transferred between molecules. For example, free chlorine is converted into harmless chloride through this reaction and then filtered out. Similarly, heavy metals such as copper, lead, and mercury react and precipitate on the surface of the filter media, effectively removing them from the water.
KDF55 remains unaffected even in high-temperature water, such as in hot showers. It helps reduce exposure to harmful chlorine during showering.
Backwash flow rate: Should be 2 times the normal flow rate.
Backwash duration: Should be 10 minutes or less.
Rinsing: Purge and rinse for 3 minutes, at least twice a week.
Adjustments: At lower water temperatures, the backwash speed can be reduced; at higher temperatures, a higher speed can be used.
If the filter media becomes clogged due to long-term lack of backwashing or use, it can be cleaned using hydrochloric acid.
Prepare the acid solution: Dilute concentrated hydrochloric acid in water to achieve a pH greater than 2.5.
Soak the filter media: Pour the acid solution into the filter media and let it soak.
Backwash: Perform a backwash for 20 minutes until the outflowing water is clear and its pH matches the incoming water.
KDF55 filter media is highly effective in reducing chlorine, heavy metals, and scale in water. It enhances the performance of carbon filters and is suitable for use in both cold and hot water systems. Regular backwashing and occasional acid cleaning ensure its optimal performance and longevity.
